Rebecca Reiling, director of HR Business Partnering and Engagement, has announced her resignation from her role effective at the end of June. Join in celebrating her time at WSU and help wish her well in her future endeavors at a farewell parting from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, June 28 in 142 Rhatigan Student Center, Harvest Room.

During her time at WSU, Rebecca has made major contributions to the university’s HR department and the overall culture at WSU. She’s had a significant influence transforming the team into one that serves as a strategic partner to help departments achieve their goals while navigating all the opportunities and challenges that come along with leading people.

Rebecca will continue in her role through June 14. A transition plan is in the works, which will include Diana Austin taking on an interim role as HRBP supervisor.

Have a creative good time at the Ulrich Museum’s Makers & Masterpieces Sketch and Sculpt event, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

Learn how to sketch with special guest artists Kevin Kelly and Rachel Curtis, and create 3D sculptures out of air-dried clay using works from the Ulrich Outdoor Sculpture Collection as models. Art projects for all ages will be available inside the museum too, as will guided tours of the Fully Dimensional exhibition.

Art materials will be provided. A food truck will sell snack options. Everyone is welcome to attend the event at no additional charge.

Celebrate Vice President for Finance and Administration Werner Golling’s time at Wichita State at a retirement reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 21 in 301 Rhatigan Student Center, Gridley Room. Remarks are at 2:30 p.m.

Werner, who announced his plans to retire earlier this year, has been with Wichita State for over seven years. Come wish him well on his retirement as he moves on to this next chapter of his life.

New graduate students are invited to attend a summer orientation event from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 29 in the Woolsey Hall Fidelity Bank Ballroom.

The Graduate School will host a graduate student orientation, where students will learn about basic grad school regulations, campus, technology systems, expectations, academics, advising structure and resources.

The Women’s Leadership Initiative invites the campus community to its Bloom & Connect event from 4 to 6 p.m. June 12 at GROW Plant Bar, 320 S. Market Street.

This is your chance to mingle in a relaxed atmosphere or express your creativity with a DIY terrarium. Whether you’re a seasoned networker or just dipping your toes in, the event is designed for meaningful interactions without the stress.

The event is free to attend; however, there is a charge if you wish to create your own terrarium. While RSVPs are recommended, they’re not required.

Join the College of Applied Studies in celebrating Sherena Langley at a come-and-go retirement reception from 2 to 4 p.m. July 23 in 301 Rhatigan Student Center, Gridley Room.

Sherena has dedicated 25 years of service to Wichita State University, leaving an indelible mark through her roles as an administrative specialist, academic advisor and director of the Advising Center since 2010. Sherena’s impact extends beyond her immediate responsibilities. Her willingness to go above and beyond to support our students, the College of Applied Studies and the entire university has been invaluable. Please join in celebrating Sherena’s achievements and express gratitude for her service and leadership. Help honor the positive impact of her career at this special event.

Join Wichita-area science enthusiasts for the last presentation of the academic year at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at Social Tap Drinkery on Wichita State’s Innovation Campus. Katlin Dunsing from the Kansas Dept of Wildlife and Parks) will present “Nurtured by Nature: The Cognitive and Physical Effects Nature Has on Humans.” Dunsing will present the science-based benefits that being in nature can impart on the lives of humans and how it supports our health. Dunsing previously worked as a naturalist at the Great Plains Nature Center and now is the assistant director of the Milford Nature Center in Junction City.

Science on Tap is hosted at Social Tap on the Wichita State Innovation Campus at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month from August to May. These events are designed to be a free, safe space for all scientifically interested people to gather, learn, discuss, and share their interests and discoveries.
