It’s On! First-Year Programs in Student Success and Campus Recreation invite you to join us today for Clash of the Colleges on Friday, Aug. 20.

This event will include relay races, team sports, and other competitions among academic colleges to determine who rules the school. Come by yourself or with a group of other new students. Enjoy an afternoon of interactive fun.

All RSVP’ed students, please enter through the south gates at Cessna Stadium at 4 p.m., and wear your college color shirt. Please bring your WSU ID for check-in. Your college will also be hosting a pre-party before 4 p.m., and you can check in there as well.

Please check your email or contact your college to learn more about the fun pre-party. If you did not RSVP, walk-ins can be placed on a first-come, first-served basis at their college pre-party.

First-Year Programs in Student Success invites students to join the Syllabus Party on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the RSC Harvest Room. Bring your class syllabi and your planners (electronic or paper), and we will provide the rest. Attendees will receive goodies, light refreshments and valuable peer support to help you get organized for the fall semester.

Wichita State’s First-Year Programs in Student Success will have a photo booth available for the first day of fall 2021 classes 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Rhatigan Student Center in front of the Cadman Gallery (first floor).

Stop by to take your first-day-of-school photos. Props and will be available and you can take the pictures with your phone. Show off your Shocker Pride and post on social media with #newshocks21.

The next Wichita State University Campus Recruiter Network (CRN) meeting is set for 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.

CRN consists of faculty and staff who are involved with student recruitment. The group meets the third Thursday of each month during the school year to share information, discuss strategies and brainstorm ideas to recruit Shockers. Last year the group discussed the following topics:

  • Virtual programming
  • Scholarships, financial aid and tuition discounts
  • Yield strategies
  • Social media best practices
