AAC Virtual Career Fair October 28, 2021, 10 a.m.-5p.m. (CDT).

Encourage your students to attend the first AAC Virtual Career Fair 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 28 via Career Eco. The fair will allow students and alumni of all degree levels, class levels, and all majors to visit with employers hiring for full-time and part-time positions, internships and co-op positions locally and throughout the nation.

All universities from the AAC will participate in the event — including Wichita State University, East Carolina University, Southern Methodist University, Temple University, University of Tulsa, Tulane University, University of Central Florida, University of Cincinnati, University of Houston, University of Memphis, and University of South Florida.

Registration for Wichita State’s Homecoming 2021 Spirit Competition is underway. 

The spirit competition represents camaraderie, community and a sense of belonging. Whether it’s a group of classmates or a student organization, show your Shocker Pride while also earning points for your team by competing in the Homecoming 2021 Spirit Competition.

The Charisma Experience workshop, hosted by Men of Excellence is set for 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23 via Zoom. The keynote speaker for the event will be Mr. James Martin, II.

The Charisma Experience is designed to provide college students with professional development, etiquette and other soft skills seminars that help participants exhibit a polished, professional image in the workplace.

Registration has begun for the 2021 Pumpkin Run 5K and Little Pumpkin 1K set to begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 23 at the Wichita State campus. There will also be a virtual 5K version the same day.

All registered participants will receive a customized T-shirt and a finisher medal. Participants that register by Sept. 20 will receive a bonus item in their registration packet.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will host Dr. Adam Woolley from Brigham Young University at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at McKinley Hall (room 224). The event will also be available via Zoom. Dr. Woolley will present his research results in a talk titled “3D Printed Microfluidic Devices for Chemical Analysis.”

Wichita State’s Office of Disability Services will host Deaf Deaf World event 1-4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Rhatigan Student Center (room 142). The event is part of the Student Government Association’s Diversity Week Sept. 13-17.

During Deaf Deaf World, participants will remain silent and use written communication, gestures and sign language to communicate. Visual aids and interactive information will be available for those who are unfamiliar with sign language.

The event will also feature several booths showcasing information about deaf culture including American Sign Language (ASL), interpreting, the Kansas School for the Deaf, the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, local K-12 Deaf Education Programs, WSU’s ASL, audiology and speech programs, deaf entertainment, the Deaf Museum of Art and deaf culture history.

Wichita State’s HR Total Rewards team will offer an on-site flu clinic 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1 at the Rhatigan Student Center (room 264). The flu shots are free and available to state of Kansas employees and spouses who are currently enrolled in State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) medical insurance.

To participate in the on-site flu clinic schedule an appointment online and select Sedgwick as your preferred location. The form requires a State Employee ID which is located on myWSU in the center of the page by hovering over the white box in the SHaRP ID channel. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Members can also get a free flu shot at their in-network primary care provider or most pharmacies and drug stores.

Wichita State’s Care Team will host an event to help unmask mental health 1-2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 from 1 at the Rhatigan Student Center (room 265).

The event will include activities and discussions about mental health. This event is open to the entire campus community.
