Visit Wichita State’s Ablah Library to view it’s latest exhibit, “Crime Scene ICT,” located on the lower level of Ablah Library, outside of Special Collections. The exhibit was created by Sara Rue, WSU anthropology graduate student.

Crime Scene ICT is about the history of forensic science in Wichita and at Wichita State University.  It highlights O.W. Wilson’s creation of training schools, Dr. William Eckert’s International Organization for Forensic Medicine, and Dr. Peer Moore-Jansen’s current Skeleton Acres Research Facility (SARF).

Rue is pursuing her graduate certificate in museum studies and created the display as part of an independent study under the direction of her instructor, Rachelle Meinecke, WSU Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Anthropology museum director.

Three Minute Thesis at WSU: 4th annual 3MT Competition Registration open.

Graduate students, registration is now open for the fourth annual Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT) 2 p.m. Nov. 12.

During the 3MT competition, each student summarizes the importance and impact of their research in just three minutes. Winners will go on to represent Wichita State at a regional competition in spring 2022.

Wichita State’s Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences is hosting an information session at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 via Zoom.

The session will review career opportunities in the medical laboratory sciences profession, an overview of the WSU’s Medical Laboratory Sciences program, and the application process.

Mark Gregory Wentling, author and an award-winning life member of the Wichita State Alumni Association, will give a presentation about his 50 years of work in 54 countries 6-9 p.m. today, Oct. 15 at the Beggs Ballroom located in the Rhatigan Student Center. The event is hosted by the WSU Philosophy Society, with the aid of the WSU Alumni Association and Watermark Books.

Wentling will offer a presentation based on his vast experience in Africa. This event is open to the entire WSU and Wichita community.

Wentling was born in Wichita and grew up in the nearby rural communities of El Dorado and Udall. He has a wealth of international development experience, working mostly in Africa for the Peace Corps and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

In 2014, the WSU Alumni Association awarded him its annual achievement award.

Wentling speaks a number of languages and is the author of numerous articles and six books including the three-volume “Africa Memoire: 50 years, 54 Countries, One American Life, 1970-2020.”

A question-and-answer session and meet-and-greet reception will follow Wentlin’s presentation.

Join Wichita State’s Military and Veteran Services in honoring the founding of the U.S. Air Force during a come-and-go event 1-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at Grace Wilke Hall.

The Air Force was founded on Sept. 18, 1947. In the decades since, it has established itself as an air force second-to-none. During the event, the office will also welcome the U.S. Space Command as part of the Air Force structure.

Wichita State students are invited to attend the first AAC Virtual Career Fair 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 28 via Career Eco. The fair will allow students and alumni of all degree levels, class levels, and all majors  to visit with employers hiring for full-time and part-time positions, internships and co-op positions locally and throughout the nation.
All universities from the AAC will participate in the event — including Wichita State University, East Carolina University, Southern Methodist University, Temple University, University of Tulsa, Tulane University, University of Central Florida, University of Cincinnati, University of Houston, University of Memphis, and University of South Florida.

The parade is scheduled to begin at noon Oct. 30.
