Wichita State’s Regional Institute on Aging will host a panel presentation “Strategies for Promoting Intergenerational Teaching At WSU: Promoting Age-Inclusiveness” 4-6 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Rhatigan Student Center (Room 142). The event is open to all students, faculty and staff.

The panel will feature renowned experts Joann Montepare, Fuss Center for Research on Aging and Intergenerational Studies at Lasell University, and Wichita State professor Emeritus Louis Medvene. Medvene is actively engaged in teaching intergenerational classes at Wichita State along with intergenerational students who have participated in these classes.

Refreshments will be served to all participants.

The fall 2021 Assessment Symposium will take place 2-3 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Rhatigan Student Center (Room 233). Participants can also attend virtually. The event will feature a Program Level Curriculum Mapping Workshop with Dr. Carolyn Speer, director of the Office of Instructional Resources.

Speer will discuss how curriculum mapping is the foundation of many assessment plans. She will provide and example of what a curriculum map is and how to organize, streamline and align target program outcomes.

Join the next Economists Anonymous event at as they host a virtual connect with coffee with 2020 alumnus Jacob DeBoard, Thrive Restaurant Group data and business analyst, at 11 a.m. Nov. 13 via Zoom. DeBoard earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in economics and accounting. DeBoard will describe provide his insights about being a data analyst and how the role has changed from industry to industry.

The World Trade Council of Wichita/Center for International Business Advancement/International Business Studies Association (WTCOUNCIL-CIBA-IBSA) will host a webinar 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 via Zoom. The webinar will feature a presentation by Mark Wentling about African private enterprise.

Wentling, a Kansas native and graduate of Wichita State, has spent more than 50 years working and traveling in all 54 countries in Africa. In addition to speaking about African enterprise opportunities, Wentling will offer his lifetime of experience in Africa’s vast and complex political and economic predicaments.

Student Involvement will host the next annual Songfest at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Orpheum Theater located in downtown Wichita Songfest is a lip-sync competition that is an engaging and energizing event.

Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission.

Wichita State’s Society of Public Historians will host David Taggart, director of Development at the Federal Hall National Memorial, located in New York City, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov.11 at the Beren Gallery in the Ulrich Museum.

Taggart ‘s lecture, “The Ongoing American Constitutional Experiment,” will examine how politics, grassroots organizing, boycott, protest, litigation, war, and other individual and mass actions, have continuously challenged the United States to live up to our highest ideals.

Taggart is an alumnus of Wichita State University.
