The Graduate School will host two public forums for its associate dean candidates at the Rhatigan Student Center 265. During the event, each candidate will present on a topic that challenges graduate students’ abilities to complete a graduate degree. A question and answer session will also be included. Wichita State’s Mental Health & Substance Abuse Coalition will host a community update 9-11 a.m. May 5 at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex 180. During the event, Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services secretary Laura Howard will provide the keynote presentation. The event will also include a panel and question and answer segments.

The Hugo Wal Hugo Wall Society will host a pizza party 4-6 p.m. today, May 2 at Lindquist Hall 207. The event will offer participants a chance to learn more about the Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs and about a master’s in Public Administration.

The Wichita State printmaking guild, Tornado Alley Press, will host a steam-roller printmaking event 4-8 p.m. Friday, today at Groover Labs (334 St. Francis Ave.). The event is free, and artwork will be available for purchase.

Dr. Yongtao Zhang, University of Notre Dame professor, will present a public lecture titled “High order WENO fast sweeping schemes for solving steady state problems of hyperbolic PDEs” at 3 p.m. Friday, April 29 via Zoom. The event is part of Wichita State’s spring 2022 lecture series.

Voices from the Vault: The 1990s. Artist Jos Sances. "Printing on the Edge of the World." Tuesday, April 26th. 5:30 P.M. Reception, 6:00 P.M. Program. Free and open to all. Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita State and Humanities Kansas.

The next “Voices from the Vault: The 1990s” series discussion will feature artist Jos Sances at 6 p.m. today, April 26 at the Ulrich Museum of Art. The event will also be available via live stream. There will be a reception before at 5:30 p.m.

Sances, a narrative artist, will deliver a talk titled “Printing on the Edge of the World,” which will discuss the contradictions of making politically engaged art in a privileged society obsessed with consumption.

During the talk, Sances will share his excitement for printmaking, the joys of survival within the art community, and the practice of examining, accepting and creating while facing a challenging future. The “Voices from the Vault: The 1990s” series is made possible by funding from Humanities Kansas, a nonprofit cultural organization that connects communities with history, traditions, and ideas to strengthen civic life.
