Attend international panel on corporate sanctions against Russia

The Center for International Business Advancement (CIBA) at the Barton School of Business will host a virtual a panel organized by Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Aalto University about corporate sanctions against Russia 6-8 a.m. May 19.

Guests can ask questions and provide comments at the live discussion. The panel will be moderated by Sofia Villo Aalto University, Finland, doctoral candidate, and Natalya Turkina RMIT vice-chancellor’s postdoctoral fellow.

The panel consists of Stephen Brammer, University of Bath, United Kingdom School of Management dean, Usha Haley, professor and Barton chair, Arno Kourula, University of Amsterdam associate professor, Jukka Mäkinen, Estonian Business School professor, and Guido Palazzo University of Lausanne, Switzerland, professor.

WSU community invited to participate in 2022 Common Read discussion

Join University Libraries in a discussion about the Wichita State Common Read selection for the 2022 school year 1:3–2:30 p.m. at Aug. 11 Leisure Reading Room located in Ablah Library. “Notes From a Young Black Chef” is a memoir about a young man from the Bronx projects and his path to opening an elite restaurant in Washington D.C. His path is fraught with painful lessons we can all learn from.

This event is open to the WSU community. Registration is not required but registered attendees will receive an email reminder.

The School of Nursing is hosting virtual info sessions to help prospective students learn more about the Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) program at Wichita State. The following dates are available:

MFA Graduates in Creative Writing to give reading May 1

The Writing Now/Reading Now literary series invites you to celebrate the 2022 Wichita State Master of Fine Arts graduates in creative writing with a student reading at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at the Ulrich Museum of Art. There will be a reception before at 2 p.m.

During the event, Stephen Woodgeard, Robert Burke, Janet Federico, Reid Kurkerewicz, and Merrick Preti will read from their fiction. Robert Yates and Luke Ulatowski will read from their poetry.

Writing Now/Reading Now is cosponsored by the Wichita State Department of English, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Watermark Books and Café, and the Ulrich Museum of Art.

Attend Bowl Fest today

The popular Empty Bowls Chili Cook-off has been rebranded as Bowl Fest and will take place later today 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 29 at the Groover Labs parking lot (334 St. Francis Ave). The event is hosted by Wichita State College of Fine Arts; it’s School of Art Design and Creative Industries; the Wichita School District; Wichita East High School Ceramics Club; Spirit AeroSystems and Groover Labs.

The event will feature a collection of bowls for sale made by local and regional artists, ranging in price from $5-$50. Monetary donations will also be accepted, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the Kansas Food Bank.

Instead of the traditional chili cook-off competition, Bowl Fest will feature food trucks, live printmaking and wheel throwing demonstrations. Come join the fun and help support the Kansas Food Bank.

University of Kansas professor to discuss ‘Signatures of New Physics at the Large Hadron Collider’

Professor Ian Lewis, University of Kansas assistant professor, will give a talk titled “Signatures of New Physics at the Large Hadron Collider” at 2 p.m. May 4 at Clinton Hall 126 or via Zoom. Lewis will be on campus and the talk will be in person as well as via Zoom.
