Celebrate your graduation with a photo booth sponsored by the Commencement Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 in the Lancelot Room of the RSC (room 203).

Grads and friends can get their photos taken, create a GIF and have it instantly delivered via email or text. Props and regalia will be provided.

Wichita State will be enforcing a clear-bag policy for all graduates, guests, volunteers, faculty and staff at the commencement ceremonies.

The following outlines bags that are permitted:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 14x6x14 inches
  • One-gallon clear plastic storage bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch or purse, with or without a handle or strap, that does not exceed 5.5×7.5 inches

Military veteran and veteran-related students can now pick up their fall graduation cords at the Military Veteran Center in Room 105 of Grace Wilkie Hall or Room 402 of the Dole Education Center on McConnell AFB.

Present your student ID and sign for the cord. Congratulations on your graduation and the next step of your life and career.

Students who want to receive their diploma in the mail can do so through myWSU. Once logged in, click the myClasses tab, locate the Graduation Links section, click Request for Diploma Mailing and submit your shipping and payment information.

Are you graduating in December? Now through Dec. 2, students can bundle their regalia items and save. The Shocker Store offers regalia bundles for bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctorate degrees.

The fall 2022 Commencement Ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Charles Koch Arena. All graduates intending to walk in the ceremony must file their application for degree (AFD) by Oct. 1.

Graduating students, if you are a member of any of the listed groups below and would like to order the group’s corresponding graduation stole, pre-orders must be completed by Oct. 14 at the online Shocker Store.

  • Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Student Organization of Social Work (SOSW)

FIRST Generation Coordinating Council and First-Generation Student Organization will distribute free gold and white cords for first-generation graduates to wear at the May 14 commencement ceremony.  at the following times and dates at the Ablah Library Circulation Desk:

  • 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. May 9-12
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. May 13

Invitations have already been sent to first-gen students who applied for their degrees. Students must present their Shocker ID to receive the cord.

Spring and summer 2022 first-generation students can get a free gold and white braided cord 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at the Rhatigan Student Center (Room 313). The cord is provided by the  F1RST Generation Coordinating Council and the F1RST Generation Student Organization to acknowledge those who are the first in their family to graduate with a four-year degree.

To get the cord, students must show their WSU ID. For more information, contact FGshockers@wichita.edu.
