As part of the College of Fine Arts Connoisseur Series, the WSU School of Performing Arts is pleased to host an artist talk with acclaimed actress Jane Gabbert from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 7 in 266 Rhatigan Student Center, Pike Room. Jane will be returning to WSU to direct the 2024 Bela Kiralyfalvi Playwriting Competition Award Winning play, “The Angel of Death,” written by current student Amanda Schmalzried, premiering March 6-8 at the Welsbacher Theatre, Hughes Metropolitan Complex.

The Clayton Staples Gallery’s first exhibition of the spring semester, “This Is Captured Paper,” will be on view from Thursday, Jan. 30 to March 14 in McKnight Art Center.

Located in 205 McKnight Art Center, “This Is Captured Paper” is a collection of artworks by Jason Reblando, assistant professor of photography in the Wonsook Kim School of Art at Illinois State University.

Following the talk, a reception will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. offering attendees the chance to meet and engage with the artist. The event is free and open to the public.

Wichita State’s Photography and Printmaking Guilds have joined forces for “Bare-Bones,” an exhibition of spooky photographic and print works in Harvester Arts’ new exhibition space at The Lux, 120 E. 1st St. N. Be sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 31 for the closing reception from 5 to 8 p.m.

The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries will host visiting artist Joanne Price for an artist talk, in conjunction with her Clayton Staples Gallery exhibition “Illustrated Nature,” at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 in 210 McKnight Art Center.

The talk will run from 4 to 5 p.m., with a reception to immediately follow until 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries will be hosting Shani Avni, Ismar David Visiting Assistant Curator at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, RIT, in conjunction with MIDPOINT, a two-day event of typography workshops and lectures. Shani Anvi will share her expertise at a free, open to the public lecture from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in 210 McKnight Art Center.

The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries will host Dave Crossland, project manager at Google Fonts, from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 in 113B McKnight Art Center in conjunction with MIDPOINT, a two-day event of typography workshops and lectures. Crossland will be sharing his expertise at the free and open lecture.

The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries is proud to present MIDPOINT, a two-day typography event. Confirmed guests include Shani Avni, Ismar David Visiting Assistant Curator at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, RIT; and Dave Crossland, project manager at Google Fonts.

Shani Avni will be leading a free letterpress and Hebrew type workshop exclusive to WSU students from 9 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 in the McKnight Art Center atrium. Space is limited to 16 participants, and registration is required.

Dave Crossland will be leading a free font design workshop exclusive to WSU students 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in 118 McKnight Art Center. Space is limited to 20 participants, and registration is required.

Wichita State’s Photography and Printmaking Guilds are seeking student artwork submissions for “Bare-Bones,” an exhibition of photographic and print works. Any WSU student, regardless of major, is encouraged to participate.
