Summer Travel - ID 506 - Leadership Development for Innovation, COURSE CRN 31045

CRN 31045 is a hands-on elective course, we will examine what makes or breaks a great leader — not just in companies, but in life. This course includes travel to Chicago for a large, annual convention, as well as tours of local businesses and organizations with leadership. Course timeline:

  • June 7 — in person at WSU
  • June 13-17 — Chicago
  • June 21 — in person at WSU
  • June 28— in person at WSU

The College of Innovation and Design will host Round 1 of Idea Fight Club 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 4 at Devlin Hall (Room 105). The event is open to students, faculty and staff and will allow participants to offer impactful ideas to solve the college’s FinTech Challenge.

During the competition, participants will work together in teams to come up with a solution for one of the following areas: Embedded finance, wearables and real-time earned wages. At the end of the event, teams will present their idea and a winner will be announced.

Registration for the fall 2021 Sustainability and Technology Design Challenge is currently underway. This one-day design challenge takes place 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Rhatigan Student Center (room 266).

The challenge is open to students, faculty, staff and community members. During the event, teams will compete to develop unique insights and solutions while creating low-fidelity prototypes such as sketches, journey maps and business models. Optimal team sizes include four to six people with a mix of technical and non-technical skills.

New Course-Fall 2021-Applied Sustainability-ID 509-Applied Sustainability in Innovation (3cr/hrs)-Earn credit by participating in thoughtful discussion on sustainability, adoption of sustainable practices and policies, and employ hands-on analysis of the long-term sustainability of innovative solutions we see today-CRN 16882.

Wichita State University now offers an Applied Sustainability in Innovation course through the College of Innovation and Design. This interdisciplinary minor allows students to select courses from departments all across campus to pursue a broad, holistic educational approach to current topics in sustainability and is available for fall 2021.
