The Office of Online and Adult Learning is hosting its fourth annual Adult Learner of the Year (ALOTY) awards ceremony on March 9. The deadline to nominate a student is Feb. 17.

The Office of Adult Learning is looking for faculty and staff members interested in mentoring adult learners through the Adult Mentoring Advantage Program (A-MAP).

By becoming a mentor, you can help adult students learn to navigate the academic world while offering support and encouragement. Mentors must be at least a second year undergrad student, and have a minimum 2.75 GPA or be a faculty or staff member of Wichita State University. The Office of Adult Learning is hosting a meet-and-great so faculty and staff can meet their new Social Service and Grants specialist Melissa Lubbers 11 a.m.–2 p.m. today, March 11 at the Grace Wilkie Annex. During the event, faculty and staff can learn about the services Lubbers can offer adult learners.  Participants are invited to bring their business cards for entry in a raffle for a swag bag. Taco bar, drinks and cookies will be provided.

The Office of Adult Learning is now accepting applications for the Osher Reentry Scholarship. To qualify, students must be fully enrolled at Wichita State, pursuing their first bachelor’s degree, have a cumulative gap in their education of at least five years and only 50% of their classes can be online. The Office of Adult Learning is looking for mentors and mentees to join their Adult Mentoring Advantage Program (A-MAP) program. A-MAP is a peer-to-peer mentorship program designed to help adult learners succeed from orientation to graduation and beyond. Mentors should be adult learners who have completed at least one year at Wichita State and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.
