Meet College of Applied Studies (CAS) at Wichita State Connect for a reception following the commencement ceremony to celebrate with its 2024 CAS graduates and families from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11. Light refreshments and music will be provided.

Please note, the event is for CAS (College of Applied Studies) graduates and their families. 

The week-long Shocker STEM Camp from June 3 through June 7 is open to boys and girls who are entering grades two through five. Campers will explore STEM through a variety of hands-on activities including In the Game, Let’s Glow, Operation: HydroDrop and Prototyping Studio.

In conjunction with “Urban Canvas: Exploring Muralism in Wichita,” join artist, designer and community organizer Armando Minjárez for a panel discussion with local muralists about the triumphs and challenges of mural making in Wichita at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 18 in the Ulrich Museum of Art.

The panel is comprised of four artists: Ellamonique Baccus, Ric Dunwoody, Connie Fiorella Fitzpatrick and Chris Garcia, and attend the reception at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the free event.

The virtual panel of leaders represent nonprofits that are invested in impacting the lives of the youth that WSU and the College of Applied Studies aim to serve.

The mixer follows the First-Generation Students: Exploring Teaching and Learning Implications Workshop from 3 to 4:45 p.m. in Wichita State Connect and via Zoom. All faculty and staff are invited to a workshop to discover how to support and elevate first-generation students from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 in Wichita State Connect or via Zoom.

The workshop will be led by Dr. Brett Bruner, associate vice president of Student Success and Persistence; Dr. Sara Mata, executive director of Hispanic Serving Institution; Ashley Cervantes, College Readiness and Retention Program director; and Dr. Bobby Berry, assistant dean for diversity and outreach in the College of Applied Studies. Join them for an insightful session to gain valuable knowledge and strategies to empower first-generation students on their academic journey.
