If you sit in the back row of class or disable the camera during online classes, how will your instructors know if you are paying attention? Be an active student.

If you sit in the back row during online courses, make sure to sit up in your chair and give cues by nodding your head, taking notes, answering or asking questions. This helps your instructor know you are paying attention. If you are in an online class, turn on your camera or use reactions such as raising your hand or giving thumbs up.

Help students prepare for spring 2022 enrollment. Many degree programs require meeting with a faculty member or an advisor before enrolling in courses, so encourage students to check their student accounts to help them ensure nothing is preventing them from enrolling.

If you receive an email from your instructor, make sure you read it. One important tool instructors use to provide feedback to the students on their academic performance is called SEAS (Student Early Alert System). This system allows faculty to send alerts to students if they  are in danger of not succeeding in their course based on academic performance.

If you received an email, you should schedule a time to visit your instructor to talk about strategies to increase your potential for success in their class. Our faculty care about your experience, so you are highly encouraged to seek out your instructors and other resources to help you achieve your academic goals.
