The Office of First-Year Programs is thrilled to announce the 10th anniversary of Clash of the Colleges, and this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever. It is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help make this milestone celebration a success.

As a volunteer, you’ll not only play a key role in one of WSU’s biggest campus traditions, but you’ll also receive a special Clash of the Colleges T-shirt and bandanna. Plus, you’ll be entered into a raffle with exciting prizes up for grabs.

This is an opportunity to connect with colleagues, engage with the campus community and be a part of a memorable event. If you’re interested in volunteering, complete the sign-up sheet by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.

Join First-Year Programs for the Shocker Swag Swap. The unique event invites students, faculty, staff and community members to exchange their gently used Shocker gear for something new-to-you.

Bring any unwanted shirts, mugs, lanyards and more from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 to the Hubbard Hall lawn. Participation is free — just bring an item you no longer need.

The location for the Winter Welcome has been moved to the Heskett Center due to expected inclement weather. Additional modifications have been established to ensure students, faculty and staff are able to safely enjoy the Wichita State tradition.

The Office of Student Success and First-Year Programs are looking for nominations of students that you believe will make an outstanding transition mentor (TM). TMs play a vital role in guiding, supporting and motivating incoming Shockers throughout summer orientation programs and in the fall semester.

Nominations will be accepted until Oct. 31 and applications will open Nov. 1.

The Office of Student Success and First-Year Programs is inviting faculty and staff to nominate undergraduate students they believe will make outstanding transition mentors (TM). TMs play a vital role in guiding, supporting and motivating incoming Shockers throughout summer orientation programs and the fall semester.

A nomination holds the potential to significantly impact the academic journey and future success of new Shockers. Nominations will be accepted until Oct. 31 and applications will open Nov. 1.

Stop by the Shocker Learning Center (Lindquist Hall Room 107) every Thursday that classes are in session from 5:00pm-7:00pm for Freshman Study Hall.

The annual Academic Convocation is happening Thursday, September 28 at 9:30 a.m. in Wilner Auditorium. Students, faculty and staff are invited to the fall 2023 Academic Convocation, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 at Winner Auditorium. Doors will open at 9 a.m.

Academic Convocation is the official academic welcome for all first-year students. The event celebrates new Shockers’ entry into higher education and inducts them into a community of learners.
