The Public Policy & Management Center (PPMC) is hiring a center financial specialist.

The role will support a team that assists the community, local government and professional associations. PPMC is looking for someone who is task oriented and looking for a career with a deeper purpose. This position requires accomplishing the daily administrative needs of the office and managing financial records.

High school diploma or equivalent is required by hire date. Three years of experience in accounting, finance or related field is required. Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one year of experience.

Keynote speaker Dr. Kaye Monk-Morgan will speak about “When Women in Public Service Lead,” plus participants can look forward to other sessions from Ali Levine, Monique Garcia, Sarah Jane Crespo, Tonya Bronleewe, Abigail Hammack and Racquel Thiesen.

Participants can network and relax with friends and colleagues at the conference.

Public Policy and Management Center (PPMC) is looking for someone to help the public agencies it serves with management of their associations and creation of their conferences.

Make a mark by maintaining a packed yet organized schedule, meeting project deadlines and running simultaneous events while not missing a beat. The position will assist public service associations by working with speakers, planning large and small full-scale events, and updating stakeholders as needed.

PPMC’s public sector partners are looking for someone who can connect with them on past triumphs and support their best interests, knowing the impact events have on their community.

The Wichita State Public Policy and Management Center (PPMC) is helping the Kansas Office of Broadband Development (KOBD) put on its Kansas Broadband Roadshow from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at the Evergreen Community Center and Library, 2601 N. Arkansas Ave., in the Cirilo Arteaga Room.

KOBD wants participants to share their thoughts on internet connectivity in their neighborhoods to help it build the future of Internet in Kansas.

It hopes to hear more about the following from the participants:

  • Internet access and availability
  • Public Internet access
  • Inclusive design
  • Internet speeds
  • Online safety and privacy
  • Digital skills training
  • Devices and more
Job Fair Thursday, Nov. 17 2-6 p.m. Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition

Students are invited to attend the Mental Health & Substance Abuse Coalition and partners for a job fair from 2-6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Wichita Workforce Center (2021 N. Amidon).

Positions that are available include:

  • Administrative and professional services
  • Case managers
  • Social workers
  • Behavioral health

Interviews will be offered with the following groups:

  • Ascension Via Christi
  • St. Joseph
  • Substance Abuse Center of KS
  • Mental Health Association of South Central KS
  • COMCARE
  • Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Detention Center

There will also be free refreshments and food/gas gift card giveaways.

Building Partnerships to Address the Future of Work: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Conference; October 3-4; Hyatt Regency Hotel; Wichita, KS; Hosted by Kansas Board of Regents and KANSASWORKS

The annual Workforce Innovation Conference, hosted by the Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Board of Regents, will take place Oct. 3-4 at the Double Tree by Hilton, Lawrence, Kansas, location.

The cost of the conference is $100. The following times are available:

  • 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 3, conference
  • 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 3, vendor reception
  • 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 4, conference

The Workforce Innovation Conference will feature a series of presentations and workshops aimed at enhancing and improving workforce solutions in the State of Kansas. The event will also feature local area discussion groups that provide an opportunity for each local area to discuss takeaways from the conference and share ideas that can be implemented in their area.

Wichita State’s Public Policy and Management Center will host the 2022 Midwest Data Conference 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Marcus Welcome Center.

The event is for faculty and staff who crunch numbers or support crunching the numbers for their organization and will discuss using data to make informed decisions that impact organizations and communities.

The cost for the event is $135 for participants who register by Aug. 5. Those who register after Aug. 5 will pay a fee of $145. All participants must register by Aug. 18.

Join Women in Public Service for a lunch at 11: 30 a.m. June 9 at Wichita State’s Marcus Welcome Center. The event will feature Mona Martin, human resources director at HM Dunn AeroSystems, who will speak about feedback.

The group is also collecting donations for the birthday cake assembly kits for the Kansas Food Bank and will need the following items:

  • Aluminum pan (9-by-13 inches)
  • Cake mix
  • Frosting
  • Sprite (allows recipients to bake without eggs or oil)
  • Birthday candles/sprinkles
