Janice M. Riordan Distinguished Professor in maternal child health.

August is National Breastfeeding Month; and Wichita State is committed to supporting students, employees and visitors who are breast and chestfeeding parents. There are many policies and spaces supporting this initiative that expand on the Community Supporting Breastfeeding designation Wichita awarded by the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition in 2016.

WSU supports breast and chestfeeding students and employees with the following policies:

While Kansas law protects a parent’s right to breast and chestfeed in any place that is open to the general public, WSU offers several wellness spaces on the main campus and satellite locations designed for lactating parents to have a private, comfortable and sanitary place to express breast milk or breast and chestfeed.

For more information about breast and chestfeeding support resources or policies, contact Jolynn Dowling, Janice M. Riordan Distinguished Professor in Maternal Child Health, at jolynn.dowling@wichita.edu.
