Join Wichita State Green Group’s meeting from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 in 203 Rhatigan Student Center to learn about the best ways to be eco-conscious while traveling. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Join Green Group at 3:30 p.m. today, Nov. 9 in RSC 203 to welcome guest speaker John Schmidt, who serves as program manager for the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers.

As the coordinator for the Governors’ and Premiers’ Regional Maritime Initiative, Schmidt analyzes and develops maritime transportation policy in addition to implementing programs focused on green shipping, trade development, and autonomous shipping.

Schmidt will be giving advice to students on the best way to start a career and make an impact in environmentalism.

Wichita State’s Green Group is hosting a picnic at 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 7 beginning at 203 Rhatigan Student Center (RSC). Once picnic supplies are gathered at 203 RSC, the group will head out to the community garden for the picnic. Stop by and learn more about student sustainability efforts on our campus.

WSU’s EarthFest is a celebration of Earth Day on Friday, April 22. There are several opportunities to join in the festivities:

  • Spring cleaning: Shred your documents and get rid of old electronics from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, April 22 in the NetApp parking lot.
  • Spring planting from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wichita State community garden on the east side of Ahlberg Hall.
  • Recycled art contest from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wichita State community garden.
  • Live music and food trucks will be featured from 5 to 8 p.m. outside the Rhatigan Student Center.
  • Movie night: Watch “Wall-E” and enjoy free popcorn and cotton candy from 8 to 10 p.m. at the RSC.

Open to all, not just students! Art can be submitted by any Wichita Metro Area Community member. This event is part of WSU's EarthFest for Earth Day. There will be 9 winners, each receiving $100. Art background with infographic describing the Net App and WSU Green Group Recycled Art Contest for Earth DayTypes of art that will be accepted: static art, dynamic art, and wearable art. All parts of the piece must be made from reused or recycled material. Judging will take place on Friday, April 22nd 4-7 p.m. on the North side of the geology building.

NetApp and Wichita State’s Green Group are hosting a recycled art contest for Earth Day 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 22 at the north side of the Geology Building. All Wichita community members are welcome to participate. The nine submissions selected will win $100.

The winners will be selected by category: static art, dynamic art, and wearable art. Artists have the opportunity to win multiple categories. All submissions must be made of reused or recycled material.

WIN A $50 GIFT CARD. Green Group Hosts: Thrifted Costume Competition Online and In Person October 28th in person at the Rhatigan Student Center Room 319 and Online by tagging green group in your instagram story.

Wichita State’s Green Group will host a thrifted costume competition at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Rhatigan Student Center (Room 319). Participants can also enter virtually by posting a picture of their costume to their Instagram story and tagging @green_wsu.

There will be two winners chosen for the in-person competition and the virtual competition. The winners of the competition will receive a $50 gift card to Grate Fill, The Hereafter or Dead Center Vintage.

The campus community is invited to join Green Group’s activity meeting 4-5 p.m. today, Sept. 22 at the Rhatigan Student Center (room 265).
