Special opening session "Engaging Communities and the Schoolscape: Challenges and Opportunities for Latine Student Success"

All WSU staff and students are invited to attend the opening session of LASSO 54: “Engaging Communities and the Schoolscape: Challenges and Opportunities for Latine Student Success” starting with opening remarks at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 in 110A Woolsey Hall, Frank A. Boettger Auditorium.

LASSO is a national linguistics conference that Wichita State is hosting this year.

Wichita State is hosting the annual meeting of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest Oct. 9-11 in Woolsey Hall. The national linguistics conference focuses on all areas of linguistics and will include special panels on language and communities in Hispanic Serving Institutions, engaging students in engaged research and linguistic scholarship for social change.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Rena Torres Cacoullos from Penn State University, and the Presidential Address will be delivered by Mark Waltermire of New Mexico State University.
