Wichita State employees who reached a service milestone between the dates of Sept. 2, 2021, and Sept. 1, 2022, will be honored at events hosted by the university in October at the Rhatigan Student Center Beggs Ballroom. The 2022 honorees can expect to receive their invitation to arrive later in September.

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of 5-20 years of service with the State of Kansas will be held 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. This event is open to all employees to attend and celebrate with their colleagues who are honorees.

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of 25-55 years of service with the State of Kansas, called Bender of Twigs (25 years dedicated to Wichita State), and those having retired from the university will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.). This is an invitation-only dinner event for honorees and a guest.

Mid-Review Sept. 1-30 - Managers, Update Employee Expectations, Competencies, and Goals. Meet with Employee to Review. Provide a Copy of Evaluation Mid-Review to Employee. - myPerformance: Non-Teaching Employee Performance Evaluations. wichita.edu/myPerformance.

Annual Non-Teaching Employee Performance Evaluations for 2022-2023 are still accessible to managers to complete the mid-review step of the myPerformance evaluation cycle. Mid-review should be completed by 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30.

The 2022-2023 review period began March 1, 2022, and ends on Feb. 28, 2023. Managers should update/add content regarding expectations, competencies and goals for the current review period, then meet with their employees to review and provide an updated copy of the evaluation.

Helpful Hints:

  • Managers have unlimited access to update and edit content on evaluations in myPerformance evaluations until the Employee Self-Evaluation begins on Jan. 16, 2023.
  • Managers can add co-planners during this step. A co-planner is someone who has managed a portion of the employee’s work assignment during the evaluation period.
  • Remember to submit after saving every time you update a myPerformance evaluation. Direct reports will not be able to see the information, and you will still have access to their evaluation until Jan.16, 2023, even after selecting submit.
  • Direct reports will not be able to access their 2022-2023 myPerformance evaluation until the Employee Self-Evaluation step beginning Jan.16, 2023. This is why it’s important that you provide them with a copy, for reference throughout the year, when you meet with your employee at the September 2022 to review.
  • Need a copy of a past performance evaluation? Check the box that says, “Show completed and expired tasks,” then “Search.” After selecting the evaluation, you’ll have to option to print/save to a PDF.
  • myPerformance Training is available as an online module through myTraining and includes a condensed “myTraining for Managers” version.

Annual non-teaching employee performance evaluations for 2021-2022 will be available for manager signatures beginning March 8. This will only be available if the manager’s direct report has submitted their employee signature in myPerformance.

Managers should log into myPerformance to electronically sign and submit their 2021-2022 evaluations by 11:59 p.m. March 14.

NOTE: The first step of the evaluation cycle, planning, for your direct reports 2022-2023 evaluations should now be accessible to managers through myPerformance. Planning should include expectations for competencies and goals beginning March 1, 2022, through Feb. 28, 2023.  Managers who have not already done this should enter this information into myPerformance (save and submit), then meet with their direct reports by March 31. Direct reports will not have access to their 2022-2023 evaluation until Jan.16, 2023. Because of this, it is important to provide the direct report with a copy to use as a reference throughout the year.

To ease the process, here are some helpful tips:

  • Managers can progress through each page of the evaluation and select save and then submit on the final summary page for the 2021-2022 evaluation to be completed.
  • Managers can check the box that says show completed and expired tasks if they think an evaluation has disappeared from their scheduled tasks.
  • Don’t forget that the first step of the 2022-2023 myPerformance evaluation cycle, planning, is due March 31.

Non-Teaching Wichita State Employees now have access to their annual myPerformance Self-Review. This self-review allows employees to provide input on their job performance and accomplishments from the beginning of the current review period, which began March 1, 2021.

All Employee Self-Evaluations are due in myPerformance at 11:59 p.m. Jan. 31. To complete your self-review, access myPerformance by logging into myWSU and selecting the myPerformance link found under the Faculty/Staff tab.

To ease the process, here are some helpful tips:

  • Employees have unlimited access in myPerformance to update and edit content in their self-review until Feb. 1, which is when the automatic rollover to their manager for the Manager Review step begins.
  • Employees should submit after saving each time they update a myPerformance evaluation. Employees will still have access to their evaluation throughout the remainder of January even if they submit. (To do this, checkmark the small box that says show completed and expired tasks.)
  • If employees need a copy of a past performance evaluations, they can checkmark the small box that says show completed and expired tasks, then select search. Employees can then select one of their past evaluations. There is also an option to print or save an evaluation as a PDF.

For additional assistance, employees can access the myPerformance Training module available through myTraining. The module includes a condensed myTraining for employees.

As a Federal contractor, WSU is required under 41 U.S. Code 8102 to provide a drug-free workplace, part of which is to establish a drug-free awareness program to inform employees about the dangers of drug abuse in the workplace; the policy of maintaining a drug-free workplace; any available drug counseling, rehabilitation, and employee assistance programs; and the penalties that may be imposed upon employees for drug abuse violations.

HR and OIEC have partnered to develop resources to establish a drug-free awareness program including a drug-free workplace procedures webpage, policy 3.03 / Drug-Free Workplace, a drug-free workplace flyer, and a new online training module.  The new required online training module will be a short online module to educate employees on the topics included in the drug-free awareness program.
