The Division of Student Affairs announced Grace Henderson has been promoted to director of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Grace has served in progressive roles within Student Conduct and Community Standards, most recently as assistant director, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership in case management, policy application, student accountability and campus collaboration.

Her experience spans conduct investigations and hearings, academic integrity processes, residence life leadership and clinical mental health training. Grace brings a thoughtful, educational approach to accountability, grounded in fairness, due process and community care.

A Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas, Grace integrates restorative practices, student development theory and trauma-informed strategies into her work. Her commitment to balancing student growth with institutional integrity has strengthened the conduct processes and reinforced a culture of responsibility and belonging.

In the coming weeks, Student Affairs will initiate a search for a coordinator of student conduct.

Shocker Share-A-Meal

The Shocker Share-A-Meal program sends alerts when leftover, free food is available on campus after catered events. When there are extra portions, anyone who is signed up will receive a notification so they can take advantage of the leftovers.

This initiative helps reduce food waste while keeping the community informed about available leftovers. Signing up is quick, secure and open to all currently enrolled students.

Hot Cocoa with the Colleges, Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, 2025, 8 am- 1pm

Start the semester off warm and cozy by enjoying hot cocoa with the colleges. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 and Wednesday, Jan. 21, the academic colleges at WSU will serve Shockers hot cocoa to ring in the new semester.

Each college will serve hot cocoa in their respective buildings:

  • Barton School of Business: Woolsey Hall
  • College of Engineering: John Bardo Center
  • Fairmount College/Cohen Honors College: Lindquist Hall

Welcome Dr. Tiffany Schmidtberger back to Wichita State as the new director of Student Conduct & Community Standards (SCCS). In this role, Tiffany will provide leadership to the SCCS office, guiding efforts to foster accountability, integrity and community responsibility.

A proud WSU alumna (’05, bachelor of arts in psychology), Tiffany’s leadership journey began right here — serving in SAC, SGA and Housing. Her passion for service led her to AmeriCorps VISTA, a doctorate in education policy and impactful roles in residence life and student affairs.

Join in welcoming Carmen Ortiz and Shasta Steinert to the Office of Student Accommodations & Testing.

  • Carmen Ortiz has joined as the new coordinator for the Office of Student Accommodations & Testing. Carmen will be overseeing all aspects of testing, providing support and resources for students and faculty.
  • Shasta Steinert is the new access coach for the Office of Student Accommodations & Testing. Shasta will be working directly with students to help establish and implement accommodations.

2025 Spring Campus Climate Summit Friday, April 18 | 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Beggs Ballroom, RSC

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the Wichita State Campus Climate Summit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom.

During the summit, attendees will hear updates on the work done over the past year from Campus Climate Committee members and learn from campus stakeholder groups. This will be followed by discussions on collaborative efforts to improve the campus climate. Lunch will be provided.

Join the Women’s Leadership Initiative from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 25 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom for a presentation by Wichita Mayor Lily Wu at the third annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon.

Mayor Wu will share her journey of leadership and career development, discussing how to lead authentically, navigate challenges and transform obstacles into milestones for success. She will also talk about the impact of women mentors and role models on her journey, offer recommendations for cultivating empowerment and personal growth in the workplace, and share her strategies for balancing professional responsibilities with personal life.

Mayor Wu, serving since January 2024, brings a wealth of experience from her 12-year career as a journalist with KAKE and KWCH. As a Gore Scholar at WSU, she holds dual bachelor’s degrees in international business and integrated marketing communication. She has also contributed to the Barton School of Business Dean’s Alumni Council and the WSU Alumni Association Board.
