The African American Faculty and Staff Association (AAFSA) would like to congratulate Eleazar Recendiz and Kaya Russell on being recipients of the spring 2023 AAFSA scholarship.

Eleazar majors in business administration entrepreneurship and management, and Kaya majors in psychology. AAFSA is excited for the impact each of them will have on the campus and Wichita communities in the near and distant futures.

The African American Faculty and Staff Association (AAFSA) calls on all faculty and staff of color at Wichita State looking to get connected on campus to join its next meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 in 265 Rhatigan Student Center.

Its bi-monthly meetings allow AAFSA to keep up-to-date with current topics important to those the group represents. Participants are encouraged to share their voices and join the group as it strives to make a difference on- and off-campus.

AAFSA seeks to achieve a visible commitment to the inclusion and valuing of African American students, faculty, staff and WSU alumni in the community. AFFSA meets bi-monthly about current topics important to those they represent.

Finding and applying for scholarships is now faster, easier and mobile with Wichita State’s ScholarshipUniverse. ScholarshipUniverse is a scholarship-matching tool for admitted and current WSU students. ScholarshipUniverse connects Shockers to millions of dollars in internal and external scholarships. All scholarships are reviewed by the Office of Financial before they are listed.

All academic colleges on campus will use ScholarshipUniverse to post future scholarship opportunities. To start matching to scholarships, simply visit the ScholarshipUniverse and select Student Login to use a myWSU ID and password to log in. Students should then review the privacy policy and update their contact details in the platform. Students can begin competing for institutional scholarships within their college by completing their new or continuing student scholarship application by Nov. 1.
