Declarations for the 2024 Student Government Association (SGA) general election are now open.

To declare your candidacy for the upcoming SGA elections, visit the SGA elections homepage and fill out the candidate application form through ShockerSync. The deadline t submit an application is by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25.

Food for Fines, February 5th through 9th

The first Food for Fines of the spring semester will take place Feb. 5-9. This is an initiative to serve the population of Wichita State while supporting the Shocker Support Locker. During this week certain parking and traffic citations can be forgiven with a designated donation to the Shocker Support Locker. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Government Association office in 219 Rhatigan Student Center or the University Police Department.

Food For Fines is an initiative to serve the population of Wichita State while supporting the Shocker Support Locker. During the week of Nov. 6, certain parking and traffic citations can be forgiven with a designated donation to the Shocker Support Locker.

Donations can be dropped off at the Student Government Association office in 219 Rhatigan Student Center or the University Police Department.

Non-perishable items that can be donated for the holidays:

  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Boxed stuffing mix
  • Boxed macaroni
  • Corn bread mix
  • Condiments
  • Spices
  • Baking essentials:
    • Flour, sugar, oil
  • Canned items:
    • Pumpkin, cranberry sauce, soup, sweet potato, yams, chicken, turkey, broth, fruit

Students have the opportunity to cast their vote for the next officials of the Wichita State Student Government Association (SGA) from Monday, April 3 to Wednesday, April 5.

SGA is the sole governing body over all students of WSU. Embracing its motto, “Students Come First,” SGA serves as the voice of students to the university and college administration, manages the allocation of over $10.5 million dollars and represents all students at the local, state and federal government levels.

Voting can be done online via Simply Voting or in person at one of the polling stations.

Applications for the 11th annual Shocker Leadership Awards have been extended to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 19. The Shocker Leadership Awards recognize the work of student-led organizations, students, faculty and staff at Wichita State.

Official WSU student organizations, university-affiliated student groups and individuals may be nominated by a student, faculty member, staff member or organization. Nominations can also be made by an individual for themselves.
