Dear Shockers,
In light of recent reports of alleged sexual assault within our university community, we recognize the importance of coming together to support one another, reinforce our shared values and engage in meaningful conversations.
We invite all Wichita State students to join university leadership, the Civil Rights, Title IX & ADA Compliance (CTAC) team, HOPE Services and other campus partners for Let’s Talk About It: A Community Conversation on Safety, Support and Respect, a gathering centered on connection, support, education and our shared responsibility to one another. The conversation will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom.
The gathering will begin with a brief program featuring university leadership, CTAC and HOPE Services. Students will hear about available support resources, reporting options, consent, healthy boundaries, bystander intervention and practical ways to look out for one another. Free refreshments will be available.
Following the program, students are invited to participate in a Campus Resource Open House, where representatives from the following services will be available to share resources, answer general questions and connect students with support services.
- Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center
- Wichita Family Crisis Center
- CTAC
- HOPE Services
- Counseling and Psychological Services
- Student Conduct and Community Standards
- CARE Team
- Student Outreach & Support
- Housing and Residence Life
- University Police Department
We understand that recent events may affect members of our community differently. This gathering is intended to provide space for connection, education and support. Students are welcome to attend the formal program, visit the resource tables or participate in both. No one will be expected to share personal experiences.
Sexual violence has no place in our community. We take reports seriously and remain committed to supporting students, strengthening prevention efforts and upholding the values that define Wichita State.
Whether you have questions, want to learn more about available resources or simply want to be present with your fellow Shockers, we encourage you to join us.
Together, we can continue building a community grounded in dignity, respect and care for one another.
