Screening of ‘Counted Out’ film free and open to the public

The School of Teaching and Learning is hosting a screening of the documentary “Counted Out” that is free and open to the public at 5 p.m. Nov. 13 in 208 Hubbard Hall.

The film is a documentary about how math is shaping the systems that govern the world — from AI and elections to opportunity and public policy — yet most adults feel shut out of it. It argues that this is not just an education issue; it’s a civic one. It runs 90 minutes and there will be an opportunity for discussion afterwards.

Things to know:

  • The screening is free and open to the public.
  • According to the filmmaker, viewers from middle-school age to retirement have enjoyed the film.
  • There will be free popcorn, candy and drinks provided (thanks to the curriculum publishers Imagine Learning).
  • Organizers are asking folks to register if they are planning to come (this will help in planning food).
  • Registering and attending gets you entered in a raffle for a Solo Mesa Table-Top Fire Pit Kit
