WSU is hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 9 in the Heskett Center lobby. To schedule your time to donate blood, visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: Wichita State.
This drive will be held in honor of Red Cross Club member Adalynn Hoefgen’s mother, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) will also be supporting the Red Cross Club with this drive. The Red Cross Club has been very visible on campus through several tabling events, including the volunteer recruitment event in January and the Wellness Expo event this week, helping to build awareness and encourage participation for the club and future blood drives.
Shayla Hoefgen is a dedicated school psychologist who has made a lasting impact on the students and colleagues she supports every day. Currently battling stage three colorectal cancer, Shayla has shown incredible strength and resilience throughout her journey. During her treatment, she both received lifesaving blood products and contributed to cancer research by donating blood. This blood drive is being held in her honor to celebrate her courage and to encourage the community to come together to help save lives through blood donation. In recognition of her courage and commitment to helping others, this blood drive is being held to encourage the community to come together and give the gift of life.
