Wichita State’s Military and Veterans Services, located on the third floor of the Shocker Success Center, proudly joins the nation in celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States Navy. A momentous milestone honoring two and a half centuries of service, innovation and commitment to defending our nation’s freedom.
Founded on October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress established the Navy to protect America’s interests at sea during the Revolutionary War. Since then, it has grown into a global force dedicated to security, humanitarian assistance and technological advancement. The milestone offers an opportunity to reflect on the Navy’s enduring legacy and the dedication of those who have served and continue to serve at sea and around the world. Many Shockers, past and present, have served proudly in the Navy and continue to contribute to campus and society through their experiences and leadership.
Military and Veterans Services encourages everyone to join in recognizing the occasion and extending appreciation to those who have served or continue to serve in the United States Navy. Their dedication and sacrifice exemplify the strength of the nation and the values upheld at Wichita State. Military and Veterans Services is always available in 318 Shocker Success Center.
