Screening of Gordon Parks inspired film is scheduled at ‘Telling Your Stories’ youth photography award reception

Celebrate the culmination of the youth photo competition, “Telling Your Stories,” with a special reception followed by a screening of “I Needed Paris.” The reception and exhibition runs from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at the Ulrich Museum of Art with the film starting at 4:15 p.m. in 210 McKnight Art Center.

Suggested donations will be accepted at the door and will benefit student projects at Gordon Parks Academy.

The documentary, produced and directed by Michael Cheers, follows students from the Gordon Parks Academy as they journey to Paris. The film explores their artistic growth as they walk in Gordon Parks’ footsteps — photographing fashion, portraits and the Parisian streets using twin-lens reflex cameras like Parks’ own.
