Isely Lane construction will begin Nov. 4

Construction on Isely Lane between Jardine Hall and the Rhatigan Student Center will begin Nov. 4. During this time, follow the alternate route signs to avoid the construction zone.

Use the south, west or north entries of Jardine Hall, the north or east entries of McKinley Hall or the north and west entries of the RSC as an alternate route around the construction site.

Lot 2W will be closed Nov. 4

Lot 2W, the parking lot west of Charles Koch Arena, will be closed Monday, Nov. 4 for USD 259 Education Day at Koch Arena. Due to school bus traffic in the area, the lot will need to be completely clear for this closure. Students, faculty and staff who typically park in this lot will need to park elsewhere at this time.

Join Shockers Vote Coalition and political science for election night party

Join the Department of Political Science and Shockers Vote Coalition in a non-partisan watch party of the 2024 general election from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the Bluestem Lounge on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center.

There will be light food and drinks provided.

Party to the Polls with the Shockers Vote coalition on Election Day

Do you need a ride to your polling location on Election Day? The Shockers Vote coalition has you covered and wants to celebrate with you along the way. Stop by the Rhatigan Student Center between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to get a ride to the polling location at the Atwater Community Center.

Campus community invited to Paddles 4 Profit charity pickleball event

Hosted by Wichita State students in the Barton School of Business, Paddles 4 Profit is a community pickleball event from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 23 at Chicken N Pickle, which is raising proceeds to support the Wichita Children’s Home. Join for a morning of pickleball, raffles and fun for a good cause.

Wichita State Connect, with CM Consulting and Development Services, are celebrating Black-owned businesses this holiday season and are inviting individuals in Shocker Neighborhood, the campus community and student vendors to its Black Business Circle.

Help celebrate first-gen students at National First-Generation Celebration Week group photo

The F1RST Generation Coordinating Council invites all faculty, staff and students to join for a photo at 1:11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 on the east side of the Rhatigan Student Center to kick off National First-Generation Celebration Week.

All are invited to wear their First-Gen Shocker T-shirts for the photo. If you do not have one, visit the F1RST Generation Coordinating Council table from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 on the first floor to pick up a free First-Gen Shocker T-shirt while supplies last.

Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes hosts Friday Escape pool tournament

Visit the Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes every Friday from noon to 2 p.m. for a Friday Escape. Enjoy a fun activity to start your weekend.

Activities will vary each week. For Nov. 1, join a $3 8-ball pool tournament for a chance to win a month of free play.

Shockers Vote holds November meeting before Election Day

Join the Shockers Vote Coalition for its final meeting leading into Election Day at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1. At the meeting, members will discuss the Get Out the Vote and Election Day celebration plans. They will also provide information about getting involved with the student-led Shockers Vote Coalition.

Food for Fines is next week

The November 2024 Food For Fines will take place Nov. 4-8. Food for Fines is an initiative to support the Shocker Support Locker, while providing a cheaper alternative to pay parking citations.

Note that donations can only be accepted during the donation period and that citations can not be more than two months old.

All donations for Food for Fines can be dropped off at the Student Government Association office in 219 Rhatigan Student Center or the Parking Services building. Questions can be directed to sga@wichita.edu.
