Dr. Sam Yeager, professor in the Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs, passed away Monday, Nov. 2.
Yeager joined Wichita State in 1976, initially as an assistant professor in political science, before being promoted to associate professor in 1982 and professor in 1988. During his time at WSU, Yeager was instrumental in building the university’s Master of Public Administration program.
He was recognized for 50 years of service to WSU at the Service Recognition event on Oct. 28. Yeager was also recently honored as a member of the 2026 class of Scholars Walk faculty. His banner is currently on display near Lindquist Hall, and a reception celebrating the faculty is planned from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 in the atrium of Ablah Library.
A celebration of life is planned for December. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sam Yeager Fund for MPA Student Success.
