Join Megan Bascom, assistant professor of dance, and local slow-fashion advocate Nina Winter, owner of TISSU Sewing Studio, for an evening of dance, conversation and sustainable community action at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 in 144B Heskett Center, dance studio.
This free event explores alternatives to fast fashion through performance, discussion and sharing. Attendees are encouraged to bring gently used clothing items to swap, exchange or reimagine through upcycling. The evening begins with a performance of “Fabricated Need,” a dance examining the fast-fashion industry and its impacts, followed by a community discussion and clothing swap.
By combining artistic expression, dialogue and sustainable action, the event encourages participants to consider their relationship to clothing while engaging in a practical alternative to disposal and excess. This project is made possible by support from the Wichita State University Award for Research/Creative Projects in summer 2026.
