Weigh in on WSU policies regarding department chairs

The Faculty Senate Chair Policy Review Task Force invites faculty and staff to discuss ways to improve 4.13 / Chair Policy and Procedures. What works for your department or school?

This semester the WSU Faculty Senate has approved expanding the department electorate for chair elections to include NTT faculty. This proposal will next come before the general faculty for a discussion and vote. A proposal to limit department chairs to two consecutive terms has had a first read in Faculty Senate, with the second read and vote expected on Oct 27. If the proposal passes, it will also come before the general assembly later this year. Visit the Faculty Senate website for details.

Updates for the role of the chair, impasse procedures, and chair training and evaluation are also under discussion.

Drop by 12:30-2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 in 266 RSC, Pike Room or contact your representative on the task force.
