Sonia Kovalevsky Day is a free all-day, all-math event from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at Wichita State Connect designed to empower the next generation of women in STEM. The event is for middle and high school students and continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The day includes three workshops:
- Modular origami
- The game of Spot It!
- Modern art and math
There will also be a talk from Dr. Raegan Higgins, Texas Tech University.
There is no registration fee and attendance comes with a free T-shirt.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Emprise Bank, with organizing committee consisting of Dr. Catherine Searle, committee chair and professor of mathematics; Marie Bukowski, dean, College of Fine Arts; Dr. Mai Dao, assistant professor; and Aubrey Wolfe, assistant educator.
