Treat your body, mind and spirit to a relaxing session of yoga surrounded by art and led by Molly McFerson, owner of Yoga with Molly, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Ulrich Museum of Art.

Stretch and breathe through simple, user-friendly gentle yoga poses. Come to the lobby when you arrive. There is a $10 suggested payment to the instructor via Venmo or CashApp at class. Cash will be accepted, but cards will not. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Signs will be up around Jardine Hall for the alternate pedestrian route paths. Use the north and south entries of Jardine Hall or the north and west entries of the Rhatigan Student Center as alternate routes around the construction between Jardine Hall and the RSC.

The Muslim Students Association invites all Shockers to attend its scholar event with Ustadha Sophia Khan, renowned scholar from Frisco, Texas, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center, Santa Fe Room.

The event is open everyone and the speaker will discuss the true essence of Islam and it’s culture. Chai and cookies will be provided to attendees while supplies last.

Lot 7, the parking lot near the Rhatigan Student Center, will be closed Friday, Oct. 4 for the Tilford Conference. Faculty and staff who typically park in this lot will need to park in other yellow lots in the area of the building.

The purpose of lot reservations is to help accommodate large groups of guests visiting campus for events or the event itself. Lot reservations are not to be used for WSU affiliates. Remember, visitors to campus can park without an ePermit up to three times each semester.

Red reserved and ADA stalls are not subject to lot closures, and proper use is permitted during this time.

Fall 2024 combined enrollment: 23,806. WSU: 17,700 headcount. WSU Tech: 6,106 headcount

Combined enrollment by headcount across all Wichita State University locations for fall 2024 is 23,806, according to the annual data released today by the Kansas Board of Regents. This is the largest number of students ever choosing to enroll at Wichita State.

The main WSU campus achieved historic enrollment last year with 17,548 students and exceeded this year with 17,700 students.

At WSU Tech, student headcount increased from 5,655 last year to 6,106 this year — also the highest headcount ever for WSU Tech.

“This record-breaking enrollment is a testament to our steadfast dedication to student success and achievement,” said Wichita State President Rick Muma. “It is a direct result of our relentless focus on access and affordability and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation. By aligning our resources and efforts, we are equipping students with the skills and opportunities they need to lead in their careers and drive progress across Kansas and on the global stage.”

The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries will be hosting Shani Avni, Ismar David Visiting Assistant Curator at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, RIT, in conjunction with MIDPOINT, a two-day event of typography workshops and lectures. Shani Anvi will share her expertise at a free, open to the public lecture from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in 210 McKnight Art Center.

The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries will host Dave Crossland, project manager at Google Fonts, from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 in 113B McKnight Art Center in conjunction with MIDPOINT, a two-day event of typography workshops and lectures. Crossland will be sharing his expertise at the free and open lecture.

Getting started with ArcGIS, October 8, 3-4 PM, Ablah Library, In-person or online

Students can join University Libraries for its upcoming workshop on ArcGIS from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Ablah Library Digital Scholars Commons (in-person and online). And with the new attendance tracking system in place, offering extra credit for student participation is now simpler than ever. There is no cost to attend.

This session will introduce ArcGIS Online, a user-friendly tool for creating attractive and informative maps with just a few clicks. Participants will learn how to find data and create online maps, making it an excellent starting point for anyone interested in geographic information systems (GIS).

As deadlines approach and stress levels rise, many students are feeling academic pressure, so encourage them to attend the Procrastination Prevention Night from 6 p.m. to midnight, Oct. 23 at the Ablah Library for the support they need to stay on track and finish the semester strong.

Featuring workshops, tutoring sessions, arts and crafts, games and more to help students jumpstart their work, tackle assignments and reduce stress.

Plus, University Libraries has them covered with coffee and snacks to keep them fueled and focused throughout the night — all for free. Students are welcome to wear the seasonal costumes.
