The Japanese Cultural Association is hosting a picnic at Chisholm Creek Park, 6232 E. 29th St. N. Participants will meet in 203 Rhatigan Student Center, Lancelot Room, then leave at 1:30 p.m. to the park.

Convene at the Great Plains Nature Center and see the trails, prairies, wetlands, ponds and woodlands.

EndNote Citation Management Software, October 29, 3-4 PM, Ablah Library, In-person and online

Encourage your students to streamline their citation process by attending University Libraries’ next Savvy Scholar workshop from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Ablah Library’s Digital Scholars Commons (in-person and online). And with the new attendance tracking system in place, offering extra credit for student participation is now simpler than ever.

This session will teach them how to use EndNote to efficiently import citation data and PDFs from library databases, organize references and create citations in various styles. They’ll also learn how to seamlessly insert citations into their Word documents, helping them save time and reduce errors in their academic writing.

Wichita State’s Photography and Printmaking Guilds have joined forces for “Bare-Bones,” an exhibition of spooky photographic and print works in Harvester Arts’ new exhibition space at The Lux, 120 E. 1st St. N. Be sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 31 for the closing reception from 5 to 8 p.m.

The National Student Exchange is a national program that connects students to campuses in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Students who are accepted in the program are matched with a campus and get to pay WSU tuition while studying at their paired campus.

Join the Community Service Board to volunteer at Wichita Clean Streams from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 9. Volunteers will meet for a morning of cleaning up the area around the Arkansas and Little Arkansas River. Gloves and materials will be provided.

Student tickets for the Shocker men’s basketball home exhibition against Emporia State are now available for pickup. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. Student entrance doors on the east side of Charles Koch Arena open at 4:50 p.m.

The student section theme for the game is “Sunday Scaries” — wear your Halloween costume and get ready to instill fear into Emporia State with the introduction of “fear the wheat” foam sticks for every student in the Shock Block.

Students can claim their student ticket for the game at no additional charge, thanks to the Student Government Association, at any one of eight ticket pickup locations listed below when they present their Shocker ID. Students can also purchase up to two guest tickets at Charles Koch Arena for only $15 per ticket.
