2025 Benefits Open Enrollment is almost over. Log in to the Member Administration Portal to make your elections by Thursday, Oct. 31.

All benefits-eligible state employees must make their 2025 elections by the deadline on Oct. 31. Employees enrolled in medical coverage who do not make a new election will be defaulted into medical Plan N with a use-it-or-lose-it HRA.

Moriah Beck

Dr. Moriah Beck, Talaty Endowed Research Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and director of First Year Research Experience (FYRE) in STEM, was recognized by the Association for Women in Science for the Meridian Award, which celebrates “mid-career professionals whose diversity and inclusion efforts represent true leadership in the pursuit of workplace equity.”

Starting out as the student director of the Young Scientist Program at Washington University, Dr. Beck has continued to promote representation in STEM through her work as a professor at WSU. She currently hosts the Expanding Your Horizons workshop, a one-day conference that connects middle school girls to fields in STEM research, in partnership with local industry partners, such as Spirit Aerosystems and Airbus. She has also lead FYRE in STEM with the Cohen Honors College for six years, which aims to introduce undergraduate students to applied learning and research opportunities across campus, and she has also been instrumental as a co-principle investigator on WSU’s recent NSF ADVANCE Catalyst and Adaptation grant to help increase representation amongst faculty in primarily STEM fields.

Join the Office of Student Accommodations and Testing (OSAT) for its first Adulting 101 session from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 on the first floor of the Shocker Success Center, near the OSAT space.

In this first session, learn what the series will entail and discuss resources that can make college life and the transition into adulthood easier for students with any kind of disability and those who do not have a disability.

Struggling to keep track of your sources? Join University Libraries from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Ablah Library Digital Scholars Commons to learn how EndNote can make managing citations easier.

In this workshop, you’ll discover how to import citation data and PDFs from library databases, create citations in different styles, organize your references and insert them directly into a Word document. By mastering EndNote, you’ll save time and reduce the stress of handling citations for your papers.

CHP Week Oct. 28-Nov. 1

The College of Health Professions is celebrating CHP Week from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1. This annual celebration is dedicated to recognizing the students, faculty and staff who play a vital role in the success of the college.

Join the Shockers Vote Coalition and Student Engagement and Belonging from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Starbucks lounge for a midday celebration of Vote Early Day. There will be prizes, games, food and more.

Can you present your thesis in just three minutes? Don’t miss your chance to join the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition Nov. 15 at Wichita State this fall.

Showcase your research in a concise and impactful way. The deadline to sign up is later today, Friday, Oct. 25.

For the Sunday, Oct. 27 Shocker men’s basketball game, a number of lots in the vicinity of Charles Koch Arena will be reserved for Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization parking beginning at 3:30 p.m. During this time, signage will be in place alerting drivers of the impending lot assignment changes.

Anyone previously parked in these lots will need to move their cars by 3:30 p.m. Any unauthorized parking in a game day lot carries a $50 citation fine.
