Join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry for its next weekly seminar at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 13 in 224 McKinley Hall where Pierre Thibault from the University of Montreal will present a talk titled, “Beyond the Lamppost – The Quest for Elusive Tumor Antigens.”

Dr. Mahsa Maghsoudi, assistant professor of counseling and WISE Clinic cirector, has been appointed to the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Counseling Advisory Committee. The role of the Counseling Advisory Committee is to support the BSRB board in carrying out its mission to protect the public.

The Counseling Advisory Committee also addresses issues referred to the committee by the BRSB board regarding the practice of licensed professional counseling in the state of Kansas.

Janet Jensen

Janet Jensen, retired senior academic advisor for the Barton School of Business, passed away on Nov. 7. Janet served as academic advisor in the Barton School for more than 20 years before her retirement in 2022. Janet is remembered warmly by her friends and coworkers, and her impact has been felt by thousands of students who she advised and guided to graduation.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca.

The annual Engineering Research Symposium will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at the Digital Research and Transformation Hub. Hosted by the College of Engineering Graduate Ambassadors, this poster competition is an opportunity for the WSU community to explore innovative engineering ideas.

The event is open to all WSU students, faculty, staff and anyone interested in engineering. Participants can connect with fellow engineering scholars, faculty and industry professionals, providing a forum to share findings, engage in insightful discussions and gain constructive feedback on their research.

Tuition Assistance applications for spring 2025 are now being accepted through the Online Application Form. The online application will be available through the end of the business day on Jan. 6, 2025, and will close at the end of this application period. Also, with the recent changes to the tuition assistance program, applications can now be submitted for both spring and summer 2025.

Due to the volume of applications received each semester, requests to submit late applications will be automatically denied. There will be no exceptions.

Provide a holiday gift for a local child or adult through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, hosted by the Shocker Store. The program will be a hybrid this year, with the angel selection process being online but the gifts being returned in store.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child or adult, visit the RSC Angel Tree program website and create an account to select an angel from the Shocker Store virtual Angel Tree. Once you claim that angel, purchase a suggested gift listed for that individual and bring it back to the Shocker Store (either RSC or Braeburn Square location) by Tuesday, Dec. 3. Gifts should be unwrapped, new and clearly labeled with your angel’s name and angel number.
