The Kansas Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol event is an annual opportunity for students to present their research experiences with state lawmakers and campus leaders in Topeka. All currently enrolled undergraduate students are eligible. Students in all majors and of all nationalities are encouraged to apply.

The research day event showcases the work of up to 40 Kansas undergraduate student projects representing each of the state’s eight public four-year institutions. This event emphasizes higher education’s role in developing educated citizens and preparing a workforce with the necessary skills to further the economic growth of the state.

Presenters travel to Topeka March 1 or may request to present virtually. The Cohen Honors College will coordinate travel and pay for all expenses. Submit your research abstract by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

Thursday Jan. 25 is Student Night at the Shocker women’s basketball game. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for students, and pizza and T-shirts will be available for students at no additional charge, a prize drawing and the opportunity to learn all the traditions and cheers of Shocker basketball.

Support Shocker women’s basketball as they face off against UAB, and tickets are available for all students at no additional charge thanks to the Student Government Association.

Eating healthy can be hard while on a budget. Come join Shocker Financial Wellness from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center to learn the tips and skills to making that goal a reality.

Did you know that damage and/or destruction of property is defined as “Engaging in the intentional, unintentional, reckless, and/or unauthorized defacement, damage, or destruction of University property or the property of another. This includes all acts of vandalism.”

For the Wednesday, Jan. 24 Shocker men’s basketball game, a number of lots in the vicinity of Charles Koch Arena will be reserved for Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization parking beginning at 3:30 p.m. During this time, signage will be in place alerting drivers of the impending lot assignment changes.

Anyone previously parked in these lots will need to move their cars by 3:30 p.m. Any unauthorized parking in a game day lot carries a $50 citation fine.

Join the Department of Mathematics and Statistics for a public lecture by Dr. Jue Yan from Iowa State University.

The lecture, titled “Cell-average-based Neural Network Method for time-dependent Problems,” will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 in 372 Jabara Hall. Refreshments will be available at 2:30 p.m. in 353 Jabara Hall.

Kim Moore

Kim Moore, executive director of Workforce, Professional and Community Education, is one of four newly elected members to 1EdTech’s board of directors. Her four-year term started Jan. 1, and she will work to further the mission and goals of the organization.

Moore is an innovative and entrepreneurial leader, focused on establishing collaborative business and industry partnerships, which lead to the development of skill-based learning and training initiatives that support employers and job seekers and stimulate the state and local economies.

1EdTech aims to achieve an open, trusted and innovative ecosystem to help learners, serves as a voice for those improving education and represents over 900 organizations in education, corporate learning and edtech suppliers.

The Tech Transfer and Commercialization department is seeking participants for its survey on the shopping habits of those who purchase Shocker gear and apparel. The survey closes Jan. 31.

Information gathered in the survey will be anonymous and will be provided to the department’s retail partners to help them meet shoppers’ needs and requests.

CLC, who is hosting the survey, will randomly select three respondents to win a $100 gift card.
