President Rick Muma and Shirley Lefever, provost and executive vice president, are conducting a town hall for College of Fine Arts faculty and staff at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 via Zoom.

Food for Fines, February 5th through 9th

The first Food for Fines of the spring semester will take place Feb. 5-9. This is an initiative to serve the population of Wichita State while supporting the Shocker Support Locker. During this week certain parking and traffic citations can be forgiven with a designated donation to the Shocker Support Locker. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Government Association office in 219 Rhatigan Student Center or the University Police Department.

Graduating this semester? Submit your application for degree! Deadline February 12

For those graduating with their graduate degrees this semester, don’t forget to submit your application for degree. The deadline to submit is Monday Feb. 12. All students who plan to graduate must submit their application for degree and have their plan of study on file with the Graduate School.

It’s time to bust a move, put on your best dress clothes and use those dancing shoes. Student Activities Council (SAC) is hosting the fourth annual Fairmount Formal Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 21 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom.

Capture memories at the photobooth, enjoy delicious refreshments and dance the night the way at the enchanted forest theme. For ticket registration, all WSU students receive two free tickets, faculty/staff tickets are $5 and any outside guest tickets are $8.

For those who want to “be the change,” social work may be the right path for that goal. Wichita State’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program is accepting additional applications for the 2023-24 school year through Saturday, April 1.

The program is open to all majors and has both full- and part-time schedule options. MSW students go on to work in mental health, forensics, health care, addiction treatment, aging, human resources, schools, international settings, child and family welfare, disaster relief, athletic programs and more.

Women of WSU invites the campus community to come and play one, two or three games of bingo at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center, Santa Fe Trail Room. Choose to play up to three cards per game, and each card is $5. Prizes include a bowling party with popcorn and a drink for eight people.

Players may bring their lunch or purchase a lunch for $14. All proceeds go to fund scholarships for Wichita State students.

Join the Rhatigan Student Center for its live music series, Monday Melodies, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 in the Starbucks Lounge. This month will feature live music from the Poke Salad Orchestra.

The RSC hosts Monday Melodies on the last Monday of every month.

The joint Wichita State and WSU Tech Faculty Senate meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 in 110A Woolsey Hall.

The FAFSA Tour is coming to the Office of Online & Adult Learning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 in Grace Wilkie Annex. Visit with your laptop and all needed materials, which can be found on the FAFSA webpage (wichita.edu/fafsa) to get help in your completion of the new 2024-25 FAFSA form.

Eiran Saucedo-Rodarte, assistant director of first-year programs in the Office of Student Success, has received the Outstanding New Professionals Award from the NASPA Latinx/a/o Knowledge Community. This award is presented to an outstanding new professional who was worked one to four years in higher education and has contributed in various ways to supporting student success and the student culture on their campus.

As the assistant director of first year programs, he works with the logistics, execution and evaluation of the new student orientation and transition programs, the First Year Seminar peer coaches and the Common Read Program. He serves as the publicity chair for the WSU Latine Faculty & Staff Association and an active member of the First-Generation Coordinating Council.
