Join the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for a culturally enriching experience as it observes the sacred month of Ramadan. It cordially invites the campus community to join Iftar Night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 in 142 Rhatigan Student Center, Harvest Room.

The event is a platform to foster understanding, unity and harmony among people from different backgrounds and beliefs and is open to everyone.

The domestic water will be off at Woolsey Hall from approximately 7:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, March 15. During this time, there will be no water in the building.

Internal Grant Opportunity - Office of Research

A second round of funding is now available. Award for Research/Creative Projects in Summer (ARCS) proposals are due to the Office of Research no later than 5 p.m. Friday, April 12.

The ARCS opportunity provides funding of up to $4,000 to enable faculty to pursue research or creative projects during the summer. Proposers must work with a grant specialist in the Office of Research prior to submission and all complete applications require an endorsement from the chair and dean.

Volunteers are needed May 11 at Charles Koch Arena for Wichita State’s spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony. Three volunteer shifts are available: 7:30-11:30 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; 3:30-7:30 p.m.

Volunteers will welcome guests and graduates at the event, and food will be provided.

Lot 19E, the parking lot near Eck Stadium, will be closed Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17 for an athletics event. Faculty, staff and students that typically park in this lot will need to park in other lots per their ePermit type. The YMCA lot is not available for faculty, staff or event guest parking and could result in a citation.

The purpose of lot reservations is to help accommodate large groups of guests visiting campus for events or the event itself. Lot reservations are not to be used for WSU affiliates. Remember, visitors to campus can park without an ePermit up to three times each semester.

Red reserved and ADA stalls are not subject to lot closures and proper use is permitted during this time.

KMUW 89.1 FM. Literary Feast. Wednesday, March 27. Wandering Stars, a novel, Tommy Orange.

KMUW’s monthly book club, Literary Feast, features selections made by its staff. For March, KMUW is reading “Wandering Stars” by Tommy Orange.

Participants will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at KMUW for a group discussion over dinner. Dinner is provided by Public, and guests are invited to bring a beverage to share with the group.

Student Conduct & Community Standards (SCCS) is raising awareness regarding certain policies in the code of conduct at Wichita State. For the month of March, it is discussing alcohol policy.

The alcohol policy has multiple points, which are defined as:

  • Underage possession and/or consumption of alcohol
  • Unauthorized possession and/or consumption of alcohol: Possession and/or consumption of alcohol except as expressly permitted by law and university policy.
  • Unauthorized and/or unlawful distribution, sale and/or service of alcohol: Engaging in the distribution, sale and/or service of alcohol, regardless of age, except as expressly permitted by law and university policy.
  • Possession of common source container(s): Possessing common source alcoholic beverage container(s) or common source drug containers including, but not limited to, bongs, kegs, mini-kegs, coolers, beer balls, trashcans and tubs.
  • Social host: Permitting any individual or group to consume alcohol or possess/use drugs and/or other substances in a space owned, occupied or controlled by the host, except as expressly permitted by law and university policy.
  • Excessive and/or rapid consumption: Engaging in any behavior which encourages, facilitates or constitutes excessive and/or rapid alcohol consumption including, but not limited to, keg stands, alcohol luges, beer bongs, beer/water pong and other drinking games.
  • Manufacturing and/or producing alcohol: Engaging in the manufacture or production of any alcoholic beverage including, but not limited to, cereal malt beverage (beer), wine, moonshine and liquor except as expressly permitted by law and university policy.
  • Open container: Possession of an open alcohol container in or on a vehicle (e.g. automobile, motorcycle, bicycle, skateboard, scooter, Segway, hoverboard, tractor, etc.), in open spaces, or public except as expressly permitted by law and university policy.
  • Driving while impaired: Control or operation of a vehicle (e.g. automobile, motorcycle, bicycle, skateboard, scooter, Segway, hoverboard, tractor, etc.) while impaired by alcohol, drugs or another substance.
  • Public intoxication: Being impaired by alcohol or another substance to the point where one’s behavior adversely affects or could affect, the regular operations of members of the university community.
