A portion of Lot 2W, the parking lot near Koch Arena, will be closed Friday, April 19 for an event. Faculty, staff and students that typically park in this lot may need to park in other lots as allowed by their ePermit.

The purpose of lot reservations is to help accommodate large groups of guests visiting campus for events or the event itself. Lot reservations are not to be used for WSU affiliates. Remember, visitors to campus can park without an ePermit up to three times each semester.

Red reserved and ADA stalls are not subject to lot closures and proper use is permitted during this time.

A portion in the northern area of Lot 5, the parking lot along 21st Street between Corbin Education Center and Eck Stadium, will be closed Friday, April 19 for fireworks occurring after the softball game that same day. All vehicles must be moved from the lot. Students who typically park in this lot may need to park in other lots in the area. The YMCA lot is not available for parking unless you are actively using their facility and is limited to two hours.

University Libraries invite students to attend its READ poster event from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 18 on the first floor of Ablah Library.

What’s a READ poster? These posters showcase individuals posing with their favorite books, inspiring others to explore new literary worlds and ideas.

Remember, each session is quick, lasting no more than 10 minutes, and there’s no need to worry about what to wear — just leave the green at home. You will be provided a digital copy.

Interested in learning how to knit while creating your own headband? The Threads Club is hosting Fiber Night at 6 p.m. Friday, April 19, where attendees can socialize with other fiber artists of all levels.

The event is available for the first 15 people who RSVP. Materials and refreshments will be provided for those who RSVP.

The Museum Exhibition class has created some new exhibits and they would like to share them with the campus. The new exhibits will be on display from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 on the first floor of Neff Hall and the first floor of the Geology Building.

Students will be on hand to talk about their exhibits and answer questions. Refreshments will be available in Neff Hall. The event is come and go.

The Kansas Small Business Development Center (SBDC) invites Wichita State human resource professionals and students to Coffee & Connections from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex. Come connect with small business leaders to share practical solutions and resources available to help them with their HR struggles.

What’s the purpose of Coffee & Connections? Small business leaders face unique challenges across the board. Coffee & Connections brings together like-focused individuals to discuss not only those challenges but the tools to overcome them. SBDC also invites different local professionals passionate about helping small businesses grow and thrive to attend and share their expertise and insight.

The event costs nothing for small business leaders or students. Human resource professionals are asked to pay a $5 fee to receive a specialized name tag and a short introduction to the group (the small fee will help purchase refreshments from local small businesses).

The Society of Public Historians is holding its final meeting of the spring 2024 semester at noon Thursday, April 18 in Fiske Hall.

Attendees will discuss summer plans as well as other upcoming events for the club.

A retirement ceremony for Dr. Maryon Habtemariam, associate teaching professor in the School of Nursing, and Mary Faragher, associate educator in the School of Nursing, will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 3 in 265 Rhatigan Student Center, Lucas room.

Every year, regional Kansas Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) choose three clients that exemplify success as an Existing, Emerging, or Exporting (E3) Small Business. The goal is to highlight both the impact small businesses have in the Kansas communities and economy.

Starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in the Hughes Metropolitan Complex, the Kansas SBDC at WSU will recognize their E3 awardees along with local SBIR awardees in a brief ceremony followed by a reception. Join the celebrations for the standout entrepreneurs.
