The 2024 issue of Kansas English, the award-winning peer-reviewed journal of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE), is now available on WSU’s Open Journal Systems. Katie Cramer, professor of English education, has served as editor-in-chief of Kansas English since 2017 and collaborates with Susan Matveyeva, journal manager of Univeristy Libraries, to publish the journal each year.

This year’s issue of Kansas English was published June 25 and features the work of several WSU-affiliated faculty, graduates and students in addition to scholarly and creative work from authors across the state and region:

The Office of First-Year Programs is thrilled to announce the 10th anniversary of Clash of the Colleges, and this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever. It is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help make this milestone celebration a success.

As a volunteer, you’ll not only play a key role in one of WSU’s biggest campus traditions, but you’ll also receive a special Clash of the Colleges T-shirt and bandanna. Plus, you’ll be entered into a raffle with exciting prizes up for grabs.

As of July 1, women’s bowling at Wichita State will become an NCAA program under Shocker Athletics. They will compete as an affiliate member of Conference USA. Current women’s bowling coach Holly Harris will serve as the program’s first NCAA Division I women’s head coach. The Wichita State men’s bowling program will remain a sport supported by the Rhatigan Student Center as the NCAA doesn’t sponsor men’s bowling.

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is coming back to Wichita this July. The $1 million winner-take-all tournament features 64 teams across eight regions, with teams led by alumni from powerhouse college programs.

Usha Haley’s ground-breaking research on Chinese manufacturing subsidies is being used in support of the United States glass sector as it deals with a flood of cheap Chinese imports. Glass comprises a key component of auto parts and electric vehicles as well.

Survey takers are needed for a research study on artificial intelligence.

Purpose: To better understand individuals’ perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI).

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Corbin Education Center, home of the College of Applied Studies at Wichita State University. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and dedicated on June 28, 1964, Corbin is known for its unique design and historical significance.

Parking garage at Wichita State

The parking garage add-on ePermit for fall 2024 will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 1. Any current ePermit holder is eligible to purchase this add-on for $50. The add-on will allow ePermit holders to park on floor two, the ramp to three, floor three and the ramp to four without having to pay the hourly rate.

This ePermit is for sale in person at the Parking Services building, in person in the lobby or in the drive thru on the north side of the building. Payment is to be with cash or check only and a limited amount of these ePermits will be made available. You must have a current ePermit on file or you will be required to buy one at the time of the add-on purchase.
