Financial Services is looking to hire a senior accountant. This person will be responsible for analyzing, reconciling and maintaining the university’s general ledger balances and activity to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). They will also deal with complex accounting issues and provide guidance to less senior accounting staff. This position will help prepare for the university’s annual audit and support financial management of capital projects.

Duties include:

  • Evaluates, determines and records necessary adjustments and processes other transactions within the university’s financial systems.
  • Prepares financial statements, schedules and reports for internal and external purposes.
  • Gathers information and prepares statements and schedules for audits and tax/regulatory compliance.

Everyone has stereotypes about what a mentor is and what they might long for in a mentoring relationship. People tend to think of mentors in a formal way, perhaps as long-term relationships, but it’s important to recognize that everyone likely have less formal mentors in their daily lives already. This is not necessarily someone who is senior to you or who guides you over the long term. This activity will help people think more deliberately about who these people are and where we might have room for additional mentoring relationships.

BYOD “Gray Box” classroom technology training sessions are available beginning Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15. These open-lab training sessions will cover how to connect to and project using the classroom technology.

Bring any personal devices you may use throughout the semester along with your adapters as needed. If you aren’t sure what kind of adapter you may need, trainers can assess your device and indicate what kind you’ll need to connect. No appointment is required. Richard Dinkel, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Koch, Inc., named Chair-Elect of Barton School Dean’s Advisory Board.

The Barton School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Dinkel, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Koch Inc., as the new chair-elect of the Barton School Dean’s “Fabulous 50” Advisory Board, effective July 1. He will succeed Margaret Dechant and will begin his three-year term as Board Chair on July 1, 2025, serving through June 30, 2028.

President Rick Muma visited the Division of Finance and Administration in Morrison Hall to express his gratitude to Werner Golling and his staff and celebrate the office as the next recipient of Rick Rewards Aug. 7. President Muma recognized the office for its work in supporting the mission and priorities of Wichita State and thanked Werner Golling, who will retire later this year, for his service to the university. President Muma also recognized Lisa Pappas, executive assistant to the finance and administration divisional officer, who was instrumental in the recent search for Golling’s successor.

Rick Rewards is awarded each month by President Muma to show his appreciation for the efforts of the campus community.

The Wallace Hall Air Handler will be shut down for repairs starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug 9 and will be turned back on late Sunday. Aug. 11.

The contractors will be staging the repairs to the Air Handling unit starting around 3 p.m. Aug. 9. Facilities Services has scheduled the repairs for over the weekend to help minimize the disruption to the occupants of the building.

There will be no air conditioning or air movement in the building until the repairs are finished Aug. 11.
