Join the Wichita State University Police Department in its active threat training using ALERRT’s CRASE curriculum. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and immersive, hands-on drills and scenarios. This training is open to anyone and there is no cost.

Interested in learning more about the Academic Integrity policies and process at Wichita State? Student Conduct & Community Standards (SCCS) is hosting multiple Academic integrity 101 sessions, where it will discuss:

  • Policy 2.17/student academic integrity
  • Reporting academic integrity violations to SCCS
  • Academic Integrity processes
  • Helpful resources for faculty and instructors

The course is intended for faculty/instructors only. To register for any of the sessions offered through the 2024-25 academic year, go to the MyTraining section of the MyWSU portal and search for “Academic Integrity 101.” The next session is Friday, Aug. 23. Reach out to SCCS at SCCS@wichita.edu for questions.

Spring 2025 Study Abroad Application: Scholarship and Application Deadline September 15th

Students have many options for study abroad programs through WSU exchange partner universities and program providers, and Sept. 15 is the deadline for spring 2025 programs.

Students can start the process by attending a study abroad information session or watching the information session video. Study Abroad scholarships are available and that application is also due by Sept. 15.

Join an open house to celebrate Kevin Young, architect with Facilities Planning, who is retiring after 10 years of service to Wichita State, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Facilities Planning office in Gaddis Physical Plant.

Stop by for refreshments, shared memories and well-wishes to send Kevin off into retirement.

Lots 3N and 11, the parking lots near Cessna Stadium and Devlin Hall, will be closed Friday, Aug. 23 for Clash of the Colleges. The lots need to be completely clear for this closure. Students, faculty and staff that typically park in these lots will need to park elsewhere at this time.

Due to the nature of this event red reserved and ADA stalls will not be available during this time.

Join the Department of Political Science in ushering in the first week of the fall semester with an Ice Cream Social from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in 417 Lindquist Hall.

Come in and meet the department and your peers — everyone is welcome.

The College of Innovation and Design’s Open XR Lab directors, Maggie Schoonover and Kristyn Waits, will deliver a keynote presentation at the Galaxy Forum, alongside WSU alumna Mallory Jennings, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Participants will have the chance to learn from these professionals and hear firsthand accounts from WSU students engaged in space-related projects. Admission to the Galaxy Forum is free, and attendees will also receive access to the museum, ensuring an enriching experience for everyone involved.
