Tips regarding AI (artificial intelligence) versus AI (academic integrity)

Student Conduct & Community Standards (SCCS) is wanting to share a helpful resource regarding artificial intelligence and academic integrity with students at WSU. The guide, which can be found on the SCCS website, discusses three possible scenarios with artificial intelligence and how it could violate academic integrity policy.

  1. Enhancement over substitution
  2. Practice ethical behavior
  3. Utilize transparency in your work

It is important to read your instructors’ syllabus as they should discuss whether the use of artificial intelligence is allowed or banned in that specific course. Note that if artificial intelligence is banned in that specific course, the use of artificial intelligence by a student will always be a violation of academic integrity. If you believe a report needs to be made to SCCS due to an academic integrity issue by another student, fill out the academic integrity form at wichita.edu/reportit.
