Register for Michael Tilford Conference on diversity and multiculturalism, travel support available

Registration is open for the 2023 Michael Tilford Conference, taking place Oct. 5-6 at Washburn University.

The Michael Tilford Conference provides an opportunity for those in education, with community business leaders, to examine diversity in education and business by discussing challenges and opportunities:

  • Inspire awareness of multiple dimensions of diversity, related practices of inclusion and the transformation of education.
  • Participate in workshops to learn about challenges and strategies for teaching diverse populations on campuses and in classrooms.
  • Share passions for teaching and interacting with students from all backgrounds.
  • Reinforce the integration of multiple dimensions of diversity into student academic and personal development components.
  • Explore how these strategies and practices translate into businesses and broader communities

Students, faculty, and staff attending the Tilford Conference are eligible to apply for travel support. Submit a Tilford Conference travel reimbursement form or  contact tia.owens@wichita.edu for more details.

The goals of the conference are for participants to listen to visionary leaders who will inspire them to promote equity and awareness at their institutions, participate in workshops to learn about challenges teaching diverse populations on Kansas campuses, and share their passion for teaching and interacting with students regardless of race, gender, religion and national origin.
