The study, “To Trust or Not to Trust IV,” involves completing a visual search task. The visual search task will be like Where’s Waldo, where participants must find a special item in a computer display full of different shapes. Sometimes they will complete the task themselves, other times they will watch a screen-captured video of an automated system performing the task.
Periodically, participants will be asked to rate their trust in the automated system and their trust in themselves. Additionally, they will complete a brief set of questionnaires. If you would like to participate, you must be between 18-65 years old and not have previously participated in studies “To Trust or Not to Trust,” “To Trust or Not to Trust II” and “To Trust or Not to Trust III.”
The entire study is expected to take no longer than 50 minutes, and participants will be compensated with a lab-themed coffee mug. Students participating in the study for SONA credit will receive four SONA credits for participation instead of a coffee mug.
