Join Illumina Biotechnology for two seminars Thursday, April 27 in 203 Rhatigan Student Center. Registration is required to attend.
- 8:30-9:30 a.m. – Anyone is invited to join this one-hour introduction seminar to learn more about the history and current technologies in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genomics. Andrew Degar, Illumina Sequencing specialist, will be discussing the molecular and mechanical aspects of sequencing, from nucleic acid to analysis.
- 10-11 a.m. – Join a seminar focusing on metagenomics, transcriptomics, metatranscriptomics, infectious disease research and more. Degar will be sharing about Illumina technology, emerging applications and ways you can leverage next-generation sequencing technology to drive research forward.
Degar received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences. He was the lead scientist at the Center for Metagenomic and Microbiome Research sequencing core at Baylor College of Medicine. Degar also served as director of operations for a metagenomics based sequencing company prior to joining Illumina.
