Join a discussion with world-renowned sculptor Deborah Butterfield to celebrate the acquisition of her work “Lumen” beginning at 6 p.m. today, Oct. 13 at Woolsey Hall. “Lumen” is a beautiful piece and a new to the Ulrich’s Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection. Butterfield’s body of work has been expanding since the mid-1970s. During the course of her long career, Butterfield has returned repeatedly to images of horses and has created them from all kinds of materials, including scrap metal and discarded auto parts. Her most iconic pieces are carefully constructed from sticks and other pieces of found wood which are then cast in bronze, re-assembled, and welded together.
