South Kansas Coalition to host roundtable with Assistant Secretary of Commerce Oct. 4

The university community is invited to attend a rountable with Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development (EDA) Alejandra Castillo at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the John Bardo Center lobby.

The roundtable, hosted by Wichita STate Strategic Initiatives, will focus on South Kansas’s Driving Adoption: Smart Manufacturing program, which was awarded $51 million by the EDA last month. It will be comprised of program managers, industry participants and local government leaders.

The discussion will be an opportunity for the EDA to collect further information from coalition members and other regional stakeholders on the goals of the Smart Manufacturing projects, and to hear how regional industry and community members will be impacted by the EDA investment. The discussion will center around project needs, regional strengths in assets and coalition partners, equity in project implementation, anticipated impact of the project on the region and lessons learned in proposal development.

Participants must RSVP to attend. To RSVP, please contact smartmanufacturing@wichita.edu.
